Here are the 5 top causes of water damage in your home:

Air Conditioner

Your A/C removes moisture from the air, and sometimes that moisture builds up within the A/C itself. If not properly drained, that water could be slowly leaking into your home potentially ruining the flooring and drywall.


Dishwasher

Your dishwasher can cause water damage if not properly sealed, meaning that the latch is broken, or if it was loaded with the wrong soap. Make sure that any leaks are immediately addressed and that your dishwasher is repaired or replaced ASAP.

Washing Machine

Perform regular checks on your washing machine, inspecting beneath the unit as well as behind it. Make sure all fittings are securely connected, and that the underbelly of the washing machine isn’t leaking any water beneath the unit.


Leaking Pipes

If you have a loose-fitting pipes under the kitchen sink or in the bathroom, and you’ve just recently water pooling in that area. Don’t wait to call a plumber – a leak in one place in your home could signify leaks in other areas, too.

Clogged Drains

Clogged drains aren’t just annoying, they also cause water damage if left unchecked. If your toilet is clogged, it means that not only can you not use the toilet, but you will likely have water backing up into the shower, sinks, or bathroom floor.

We sustained flooding from the ditch next to our house. It backed into our basement and we had approximately 6" of water in our basement! For nine years my husband and I were in the property & casualty insurance business in the Lakes Region of NH. So many times we would connect our clients with SERVPRO for mitigation of water/flood/fire damage but never for ourselves! This time was our turn to call upon the professionals, we definitely needed help! When I discovered the disaster looming in our basement, without hesitation I called SERVPRO! Matt returned the initial call (after hours) and said he would put together a quote for me with the information I had given him. The next day we confirmed, also that the water had receded! Hurray! I said let's move forward, we have no choice! The following day Ramon and TJ arrived and after signing a couple of documents to proceed, Ramon the Senior Rep provided me with information of all they were going to do and placed all the equipment indicated on the quote that Matt gave me. Ramon and TJ were extremely polite, professional, friendly and with such a positive attitude for all the situations that they find themselves dealing with each and every day, is refreshing and amazingly unbelievable! God bless them!

Great overall experience from start to finish.

Company was fast to respond to my original inquiry and were at the house to fix my problem in just a couple days, which was a bad odor coming from the heating ducts. The tech cleaned and disinfected all the vents and cleaned out the furnace in just a couple hours. The house and heating system are back to normal. Disinfectant doesn't have any strong chemical smells and is safe for the pets in the house which is nice to know. The technician was incredibly friendly and made sure our concerns and questions were answered.

I needed a professional carpet cleaning company, as soon as possible. SERVPRO was able to schedule me in within a few days, as other companies I called were one plus to three weeks out. I wondered why  were they available? why weren't they busy? Didn't they have enough clients? WRONG. They just 
accommodated me and kept a busy schedule. They have clean professional equipment ,work quickly, and when they left, the carpet was damp but they (Sam) reassured me it would dry in a few hours to a day. Said it depends how well the person who does the extraction is. Mike did a great job, even for a new guy, took only 4 hours to dry. And, in fact it was dry, clean, and  no odor!!
